There's a war going on in this world.
I didn't know if you knew.
It's a spiritual war, but I'm pretty sure that most people don't like to talk about it.
Although there are some people who are aware of this war, there are quite a few who aren't. Some people don't like to acknowledge it's presence in their life. They think that if they pretend it's not there, it won't affect them. Some don't acknowledge it's presence because when the Bible talks about demons and says they are in the "high places ", they think it means "in the sky". Others, however, may actually be completely oblivious that a spiritual war is even taking place.
But this is a serious war.
This war could effect your relationship with God.
I think it's time to talk about it.
In this war, the battlefield is our mind.
The mind is where we process the most. It's where we can be the strongest and the weakest. It's where our fears come alive and our emotion takes root and grows. It's where we analyze situations down to every word that someone said to us. A lot goes on in our mind. So much goes on that sometimes we feel as if it might just explode from everything inside of it.
It's where we make all of our decisions. It's no surprise that Satan attacks our mind the most. He puts us in chains and shackles by filling our mind with lies.
Here are three verses in the Bible that talk about how Satan deals directly with the human mind:
"Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them." -Mark 4:15
"Then Peter said, 'Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land?'" -Acts 5:3
"But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ." -2 Corinthians 11:3
Satan has the ability to deceive our thoughts, causing us to completely turn away from God. It says it right there in 2 Corinthians 11:3. If you let him, Satan can affect your relationship with God.
The good news is that, if you let Him, God can guard your mind.
Psalms 139:1-3 says,
"You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you know my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways."
And Psalm 139:23 says,
"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts."
He knows when you get up in the morning. He knows when you go to sleep. He could look at you from across a room and know exactly what you're thinking. He knows your doubts and your fears. He knows your longings. He knows you strengths and He knows your weaknesses. He created you, He knows everything about you. There is no one else who can guard your mind as good as God can.
Imagine if the One who knew everything about you guarded your mind from the lies of the enemy. Imagine the amount of peace and joy that would fill your mind.
Isaiah 26:3-4 says,
"You will keep perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the rock eternal."
The original definition of the word "steadfast" is: to lay (one's hand on).
According to this definition, If your mind is steadfast, that means that when you come across trials in your life, you put your hand on God's word and remain confident that it is true. That means getting into the word of God, spending time in prayer, letting God speak to you, letting Him love you and fill your mind with truth. God will defend your mind and bring perfect peace among you if you remain steadfast and trust in Him.
We are free from the chains that this war tries to entangle us with.
We are FREE because of Christ.
He loves you. Fill yourself with the Word of God so that you may experience perfect peace from our ultimate protector.
"I began to understand that Satan was after my mind, even when I was a child, and never realized how much misery this caused me both as a child and adult. But, I have started to tear down those high places and fill myself with the truth. The truth has set me free. Praise God!" -Beth Moore
